SINGLE OF THE MONTH

airt7

Air Traffic - Never Even Told Me Her Name (EMI)
Following from their low-key debut “Just Abuse Me” on Fierce Panda Records this summer, Air Traffic sign to EMI and put out another blinding pop record. From the piano intro to the power-chord chorus and hook line, its class all the way. Like the better Keane songs, but without the whining vocal and real guitars. They will massive in 2007, guaranteed!

BEST OF THE REST THIS  MONTH

The Rotters - Japanese Punk (Beggas)
Featuring lead singer of The Horrors, Ferris Rotter, this old-school punk three chord fuzz-box  rant record inclusion of a girl vocal make sit very reminiscent of early X Ray Spex.but without the tunes..

Young Knives - The Decision (WEA)
Reissued after originally being on the Transgressive record label last year the Ashby-de-la-Zouch trio continue to pick up a loyal following of  their quirky, jerky English pop. Not quite sure of the relevance of an old man in his pants on the cover is though!

Husky Rescue - My Home Ghost (Catskills)
Whispered vocals mark the return of Helsinki based Husky Rescue since their addictive 2004 album Country Falls. Trip hop pop like a  to female fronted, less hard, Massive Attack. Pleasant enough if you want your music to wash over you.

Yes Boss - Tongues in Knots (Dance to the Radio)
Sharing the vocal with Tom, lead singer/shouter of Forward Russia, grime-merchants Yes Boss slip dangerously into rap/indie-disco territory with yet another rant against everyone apart from themselves. Eminem must be quaking in his trainers....not!
